A Photographer Captures The Beauty Of Blind Cats In Order To Aid Their Search For New Homes

Casey Elise is a Los Angeles-based photographer. One of her favorite projects is photographing blind cats and showcasing their beauty in order to enhance their chances of being adopted. She wants to give them the care they need since, like any other cat, they are full of love and in need of a decent home.

“I photograph for a number of animal shelters and rescue organizations, including Milo’s Sanctuary, which is a special needs cat rescue,” Casey says. At the shelter and rescues where I help, I observed an increase in the number of blind cats and kittens a few months ago.

It felt like a sign, so I decided to produce a blind cat series. Milo’s Sanctuary came to my attention earlier this year after they adopted Regis, a blind cat I met in a West LA shelter in April.

I contacted the creator, and she (and Regis!) were eager to collaborate on this initiative. Milo’s Sanctuary & Special Needs Cat Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based on the conviction that all cats, especially those with physical impairments, elders, terminal illnesses, or those who have been abused, deserve a second shot at life.”
